The chlorine the city adds to keep water microbiologically safe slowly oxidizes the resin inside any water softener. Without a carbon filter ahead of the softener, you can lose years of life off the resin. The cartridge filter handles that — and as a bonus, every tap in the house runs dechlorinated water. That's why we bundle the two together as the standard recommendation for city water homes.
Free Water Test — No Obligation
Before recommending anything, we test your water and tell you your actual hardness number and chlorine level. If you don't need a system, we'll say so. No sales pitch, no pressure.
